Obstetrics & Gynaecology

Dr Tucker practices clinical Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Townsville University Hospital, North Queensland’s level 6 Maternity and Neonatal facility.

Compassionate care

Danny believes in compassionate, family-centred care and support through the challenges of pregnancy or when gynaecological issues arise. He provides Queensland-wide training in complex communication skills and trauma-informed care. He is an Open Disclosure training faculty member with Queensland Clinical Excellence and a Clinical Advisor for the consumer group Australasian Birth Trauma Association.

Birth Trauma help

For most women, birth is a positive experience. However, it can also be very confronting or traumatic for mothers and partners. Birth can leave physical or psychological wounds that have a lasting impact on a family’s life and due to stigma, many women suffer for a long time.

Conversations about what happened with someone who understands maternity care, who can answer questions about complex obstetric interventions and implications for the future, can help bring closure to a traumatic experience. It also helps you plan for next time, if that’s important to you.

Danny offers birth debriefs at the public hospital and these can be arranged by emailing:

Medico-legal practice

Dr Tucker reviews legal briefs for defence and plaintiff legal teams regarding the following areas of practice:

  • Management of routine and complex labour and delivery conducted in the birth suite and operating theatre setting.

  • Provision of advice from a high-level obstetric facility to low-level hospitals. Planning delivery and coordinating patient retrievals over large distances. Liaison with other relevant clinicians, including neonatologists, paediatric surgeons and emergency department coordinators.
